Querying Day One

It has begun. I am querying my manuscript. So far, I have sent out one query and I have had one reply. And to say that I am walking on sunshine is an understatement. I have only this to say: watch this space.

Simon... The Waiter

If you open yourself up to new experiences, you will find that every day is a gift. Or a kick in the butt. Most times though, you will be pleasantly surprised by the amazing people who dwell among us. Simon, the waiter, is exceptional. He is young, probably around 18, serves coffee and muffins and scones and whatever else all day long, and spends every spare minute he has studying for his pilot's license. It turns out that my young friend dreams of taking to the skies one day and has decided to pay for this from the money he earns by serving people like me frothy cappuccinos (did I mention that I love frothy cappuccinos?)

I take my hat off to him. I really do. So many young people have it too easy these days with parents living through their children and sending them to private schools and university to ensure that they get the education that mom and dad never did. And so often we, as parents, push them into something we wanted to do but didn't or couldn't.
So well done to those who seize the day, those who take the bull by the horns, and those who work towards their dreams. I raise my frothy cappuccino in your honor.

Where to start?

I am pretty sure all of our lives are insane. It's just that somehow I seem to attract more random events, insane conversations, and downright craziness. So I decided to document everything that happens. Because I tend to forget. Or perhaps I just block it out.
Either way, I suspect that Alzheimer's will find me sooner or later and I need to leave something behind for my daughter (The Crazy Kid) to pass down to her children.

This is her, by the way. Why do 13 year olds feel they need to pout in photos?
